Did you get my message on the compatible trans fluid for the Nissan?

What’s the white vehicle in the background? Looks a little like a Peugeot 205 or 309.

You should totally make a covfefe table out of the old engine block!

Appears to be a Tercel or Corolla parked on the street?

I did; thank you. I have an account at a local Nissan dealer that gives me 25% off, which’ll put their Matic S at around $7.75 per quart, and I think I’ll just use that.

Ha! 1991 Toyota Corolla. With 240,000 miles on it...

Except that LKQ will give me back $100 for the core. And really, covfefe
anything
should be made primarily out of feces.

‘91 Corolla Base with 240k miles. Third gear synchros are not as effective as they probably once were, but that is a GREAT car. My other Toyota, the ‘89 Camry, is also great, though I am running out of parts to replace on it. About 240k on that one as well.

I was at the Nissan dealership today and the parts guy pulled up my car’s birth certificate and said that it uses Matic
D
, which is the Dexron spec, so I am planning on using Dex VI. The fluid I drained was brownish red. I assumed it was Dex...

You know what? I’m still not 100% certain on the ATF for the Versa. I’ve been to two different Nissan dealerships and the parts guy(s) have not been very swift. I looked in the owner’s manual for the car, and the chart says S Matic. As well, All Data also calls for S . I get a 25% discount at one Nissan dealership and I can buy the Nissan-brand S Matic for $8.24/qt.
Maybe I’ll call the trans shop next... There’s a very good one a mile from here.

Valvoline Maxlife works for either. It might be the safest bet.

I called the transmission shop. Dude is very helpful and he shares your opinion, and he says he uses a similar product in the transmissions he rebuilds. So that’s how I’ll go.
So I have this car that running, is worth $5-6k, that I’ll have maybe $3k in, and that will include a new set of tires. On the one hand, I’m tempted to keep it. On the other hand, it’s build like a carefully constructed beer can with high-concept cable ties holding it all together. This past Spring, I bought a 2000 RAV4 with a salvage title and 60k miles on it for my daughter — and did a whole slew of preventive maintenance — and I bet with some maintenance, it’ll outlast this Versa. Certainly, I’d have less hope of the Versa lasting 17 years as the RAV has. So I can have my $2.5k profit margin in cash, or in the value of this car. I don’t need to make up my mind just now... What are your thoughts? Crash worthiness is a consideration...

I’d sell it since you have the opportunity.

You don’t think it’s a car to keep?

Its just that its a cheap car that might not hold value. There is the situation where you’ll make a good chunk of change and I’m all about grabbing the money while you have the chance.

It’s good. I can’t believe how delicate it is. Hope to start it up today...
